Dr. Mishra received his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining the Institute of Health Administration at the Robinson College of Business, he was on the faculty at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds a secondary appointment at the Department of Computer Information Systems at GSU.
Professor Mishra’s research has focused on examining deep and integrative use of information technologies in organizational processes and strategies, and the impact of such usage. He has also studied the use of IT among knowledge workers, such as physicians, and among recipients of public health benefits in Georgia. He has conceptualized and conducted several large-sample studies. He has collaborated with national professional organizations such as the Institute of Supply Management, American College of Physicians and American Medical Informatics Association. He also has been associated with and obtained funding from the Center for Health Information and Decision Systems at the University of Maryland at College Park and the Center for Research in Electronic Commerce at the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Mishra’s research has helped policy makers in the state of Georgia in the redesign of their benefit eligibility system. His research has been referenced in Yahoo! Finance, CNBC, Insurance News Net, Healthcare Financial Management Association and others. One of his papers was listed on SSRN’s top 10 downloaded list for HEN: Doctors (Topic) in April 2013.
In their limited free time, Dr. Mishra and his wife enjoy outdoor activities, cooking, traveling, listening to jazz and classical music, and volunteering.
